"AZUL" Collection

For many of us art might be a way to express a unique experience and/or an emotion. The following was the unexpected experience that influenced my collection.
It was a wintery Saturday afternoon at Central park in New York City. I had just come from an exhibition of Bibles held in the Public Library of New York – this was totally out of the BLUE-a new friend of mine invited me at the last minute ... as I sat alone on a bench overlooking a bridge on a beautiful lake full of ducks and surrounded by huge leafless trees I took out my small sketchbook and a pencil – all I knew was that I wanted my subject to be creation/nature. Right before I started sketching, for the first time I closed my eyes and asked God to be with me, to give me inspiration on this new journey — the journey of my new collection ... as I started sketching I remember I told God in my mind, Lord this is the most beautiful place I have ever been to ... maybe I have been in other places that are more gorgeous than this but one thing is for sure and that is I have never ever felt so much peace in my life ... I though this can’t get any better ... I said to myself as I continued to sketch “I will always remember this moment.”
Soon after that, suddenly about five BLUE drops ... yes, I counted them ... fell right on my small sketchbook and two of them on my right hand. I was so carried away while sketching that after a little while I asked myself, where did these BLUE drops come from? I put the pencil down and turned around—my first thought was ... maybe someone is painting right behind me and happened to sprinkle their BLUE paint on my small sketchbook? To my surprise there was no one sitting by me. Even if there was the drops came directly from up above. There were only passer-byes strolling and taking pictures of the beautiful scene that I was sketching. Confused I thought ... ok this could be a coincidence ... no way I said, too much of a coincidence. Wait a minute these drops came directly from up above, the sky ... they are BLUE, they fell right on my small sketchbook and my right hand while I was drawing, they dropped seconds right after I closed my eyes and prayed ... AND as if it’s not enough I just came from an exhibition of bibles.
No, I am not trying to convince you. You may believe that it is a total coincidence and I very much respect that ... this is the experience that influenced MY new collection titled “AZUL”. In the last few years through difficult times my connection with God grew stronger and I realized this because I could now observe not just see, feel not just touch, listen and not just hear. This is just a start ... and just the beginning of the collection. With my collection I wish to impart the peace I felt at Central Park that day. Therefore, I present AZUL.
